3.1. Selected Scholars will receive a one-time $10,000 scholarship (or equivalent in your local currency).
3.2. Scholarship recipients will be notified by email of their selection.
3.3. If we pay any money to you incorrectly, for example because of an administrative error, you will repay the money to us.
3.4. The scholarships will be paid to the extent that we have the funds available. Any bank fees and/or foreign exchange fees will be deducted from the total amount of the scholarship. We will do what we can to keep these fees low, but cannot control how much these fees amount to.
3.5. The scholarship should be used to support your research and educational development. This includes but is not limited to: research expenses, educational materials, technology, conference attendance, course fees, living expenses while conducting research, or other expenses that support your research goals.
3.6. If you are under 18 we will pay the scholarship to your parent or guardian, rather than to you directly.
3.7. You will submit a brief report within 12 months of receiving the scholarship describing your research progress and how the scholarship supported your work. We may request reasonable additional information about your use of the scholarship funds.
3.8 If the scholarship funds are not used for the purposes set out in Section 4.5, or if you cannot demonstrate appropriate use of the funds when requested, we reserve the right to require repayment of all or part of the scholarship.
3.9. All intellectual property rights in any research or work you produce using the scholarship remain your property.
3.10. You will be responsible for any tax, duties, or governmental fees payable on the scholarship.

By accepting this Scholarship you confirm you have read and understood the policies set out above and that you agree to follow these policies.
4.2. If we reasonably believe you have materially breached these policies or misused scholarship funds, we may require repayment of the scholarship.
4.3. Please do not identify other scholarship recipients without their consent when discussing your work publicly. Please also ensure that you are complying with our Digital Safety Policy where you post anything on social media.
4.4. If you are asked to make any statement about the Research Scholarship or Non-Trivial Ventures in the media (for example on TV or print media) please contact us first using the email address below.

5.3 Non-Trivial Scholarship supports self-directed, independent research. Non-Trivial is not responsible for any physical injury, harm, or loss arising from a participant's own research activities, including any laboratory, fieldwork, or experimental work. By accepting these terms, participants (and their parent/guardian where the participant is under 18) acknowledge and accept the physical risks associated with their chosen research activities.
61. All intellectual property rights in your research and any materials provided to us by you will remain your intellectual property rights.
6.2. Your research and all materials provided to us by you must be your own original creation. You must not copy anyone else's work.
6.3. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual licence to reference your research outcomes and scholarship status on our website and in our materials. If for any reason you do not want us to mention your research please let us know using the email below.
8.1. We will only process your personal information as set out in our privacy policy.
9.1. We may have to suspend or cancel scholarship payments if circumstances outside our control mean that we can no longer provide funding. We will take reasonable steps to honor committed scholarships, and we will let you know if we cannot fulfill our scholarship commitments.
10.1. These terms and conditions are governed by English law. If any participants want to take court proceedings, then they must do this within the courts in the United Kingdom, unless local law provides that you can take court proceedings in your own country.
